We all had a great time at the Nigeria Day Energy Forum held at the Hilton Post Oak Hotel. This event was held in conjunction with the World Petroleum Congress. The purpose was to discuss the future of Nigerian Oil and to honor leaders in the Nigerian community who are in the industry too.
Here is a snippet of the honored speakers:
- HE Chief Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Nigeria
- Mallam Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
- Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive Officer, Oando Plc
One consistent theme that I heard at this gala is Energy Transition. It appears to be the new buzzword at so many conferences that I go to, sort of like “net zero”. Energy Transition means changing over to fuels that have a lower carbon footprint. particularly Hydrogen and Methane. Looks like the whole world is getting on board. But, like so many energy executives say, balancing supply and demand is going to be “messy”.
Personally, I am for Energy Transition. Nevertheless, I cannot discount what one attendee told me, “I do not want to breath clean air in the dark”. More pictures below.
