Heat Exchanger World made a great showing at the LyondellBasell Center for Chemical, Petrochemical, Energy, and Technology, San Jacinto College, Pasadena, TX, on December 1 and 2. That is really a nice looking facility, located on Fairmont Parkway. The meeting had a good lineup too of speakers and exhibitors – top players in the business.

Here are some of the topics discussed.
- Bolted Joints
- Cleaning and Antifouling
- Maintenance and Turnarounds
- Testing and Inspections
- Tubesheet Inspections
- Corrosion
- Thermal Design
- Materials

I would categorize this conference as very “hands on”. If you want to see dynamic and steady state simulation of heat exchangers, finite element software, and such, they will not be at Heat Exchanger World. However, the interest is there. To my knowledge, this is only the second time that the conference has come to Houston – a yearly event. In the future, I do envision more discussion about plugins for process simulators, drafting software, and project management.
