We all got together for the Sub-Saharan Africa Oil and Gas Conference, Aug 12 – 13, at the Hilton Post Oak. It was just an absolutely beautiful sunny day, at a great venue, with great people. The Sub-Saharan area is really an untapped market. Some say that roads and other infrastructure concerns are holding back exploration, drilling, and production. I say, “non-sense”. The USA lacked infrastructure at one time and look at it now. Anything that you want done, you can get done.

Here are some of the topics discussed.
- Geopolitics
- Infrastructure
- Exploration
- Supply Chain
- Green Economy
- Digitalization
- Gas Flaring
- Investment Opportunities

There were some pretty heavy hitters at this meeting:
- Saifuah – Mai Gray, President, National Oil Company, Liberia
- Timipre Sylva, Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Nigeria
- Yusuf Usman, CEO, Nigerian National Petroleum
- Fafa Sanyang, Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Gambia

It was really an honor to attend this event. The lunch buffet was probably one of the best I have ever tasted. We had fajitas and the flavor was so authentic that I thought my mother was in the kitchen cooking for me. We closed on Thursday with a great after hours mixer. I had a chance to speak with some good people in the industry who know a lot about oil and how markets operate in the world.

This event comes around every year. So, make sure to get on down here. The conference closes today.
