PPIM brings a lot of good things to Houston each year when it is held. The event is a combination of conference, exhibition, and training courses. It is all done at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The majority of the content is about using flow pigs in pipelines.
Here are some of the topics that are discussed at the meeting:
- API Standards
- Hydrostatic Test
- Stress and Corrosion Cracking
- Magnetic Flux Leakage
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Pipeline Inspection
What really jumped out at me this year is how much the industry relies on rental equipment. This is a huge business. I spoke to one vendor that told me that not only are some rentals engineered for a particular application, but that one rental company will rent items from another rental company to complete the design package. It is a very incestuous business.
PPIM comes to Houston every year. Lots of good fun there, you should join us. In the meantime, please view their website: http://www.clarion.org/ppim/ppim20/Conference-Program.php
