The 4th International Conference on Fossil and Renewable Energy was held in Houston, Feb 17 – 19, 2020 at the DoubleTree Hotel, Houston Intercontinental Airport. This is not your usual business conference. The goal is to unite working research with applicable industry.
Most of the presentations are based on current research. The papers are peer reviewed and are published with companies like Springer. The majority of the attendees are from academia or research centers. However, industry is also present since the objective is to get this research out into the real world.
Here is a snapshot of the topics:
- CO2 Sequestration
- Biodiesel
- Battery Storage
- Thermal Energy Storage
- Wind Turbine Modeling
- LNG Systems
On of the things, as a side note, that caught my ear, was presented by Andrew Barron, Energy Safety Research Institute, UK. He said that methane or propane would be better for fracking than water. Apparently, the water damages the walls of the well and inhibits flow. I like that since we are currently flaring so much of our methane.
This conference will come back again next year. Please visit their website: https://energy-conferences.com/ It is sponsored by the United Scientific Group. They will be holding their Catalysis Conference in Los Angeles, next week. Here is that website: https://catalysis.unitedscientificgroup.org/
